Boating

The Withlacootchee and Yankeetown area has some of the best boating in Florida.

The Withlacochee is Fresh Water:

The Withlacoochee River is all freshwater East of Yankeetown Marina.  This means as you drive from the Gulf back to Hideout Heights, you’re effortlessly flushing your motors en route.  This saves you time and energy at the dock.

Navigational Nuisances – A Cautionary Tale:

The Withlacoochee is a beautiful river, but without some caution, it can be a dangerous place for your lower unit and propellor.

Outside of the channel, there are numerous submerged rocks. Check out OUR VIDEO for an overview of running the Withlacoochee BUT be sure to carefully check your charts and your information. We were probably drinking when we made the video so it’s only a reference, but the dudes at Garmin and Simrad were most likely sober.

Local Laws – West Coast is Different than other Coasts:

Please take care to learn the local regulations for the West Coast of Florida. West coast fish regulations are different than East coast regulations are different than Monroe County.  Check out Florida’s Salt Water Fishing Regulations to get the latest official information.

I’m not sponsored by them (I wish I was) but the Fish Rules App is super good and free too!
